I moved my gelding to Blackberry Stables in February 2019 after having him at home for 3 years, catering to his every need and desire 🙂 The transition back to boarding included recovery from a painful and persistent abscess. Barbara accommodated his needs to keep him comfortable and from the get go made me/him feel like home!
I've had the opportunity to work alongside Barbara and her great group of gals for daily chores, giving me firsthand insight on the care and attention she gives to each horse. She tailors the horses' care to individual needs and likes, owners' requests, intuition from years of experience, daily observation of the horses' behaviors, and seasonal changes! I love that she has little insights to my horse's likes and behaviors, some that I hadn't noticed or thought of, that can make a big impact on his quality of care!
My gelding, a hard keeping, accident prone thoroughbred may not be the ideal candidate for pasture board but through meticulous care and monitoring by Barbara and myself, he is thriving!

I have been a long term boarder at Blackberry Stables. My horse Shiloh has always received excellent care. When I'm not riding him in the arena or on the trails, he spends most of his time with his "buddies" out in the pasture playing and snoozing in the sun.
Barbara, the barn manager provides knowledgeable, compassionate care to the horses as well as a friendly attitude toward the boarders. She treats every horse as if it were her own. The horses are in a safe, peaceful environment. Shiloh and I love our home at Blackberry Stables.
